LittleBigPlanet faces a big challenge with its eventual October release. For an original IP, the cute little platformer-that-can has generated more hype in gaming circles than even Spore. All game developers would want that hype to generate sales and excitement for their game, but too much hype can cause serious fallout among gamers after the actual release. |

GotGame's Jessica Muhlbier writes: "The stereotypical persona of a gamer is all too familiar and can be summed up with one word. Lazy. It's the classic sit back and relax with a box of cold pizza, and nothing to do but game all day. So, is this a far-fetched stereotype or simply a sad statement of truth? Having a younger brother who barely blinks during an Xbox game, I vouch for the statement of truth. And here's why." |

From WiiRincontrol: If your family, and family gaming is so important to you (as it should be) then act like it in the proper ways, and the rest will follow. Educate yourself about the ratings system if you are going to own a console. Don't buy games that are inappropriate for your kids. Don't let them buy such games with their own money. Don't let them go to friends houses whose values are so different from your own. Entrust your values to your kids so that they never have a desire to play a game that you find offensive in the first place. Rest assured, if you actually parent, your children will not end up playing a game like Mad World if you don't want them to. Then, we can have games like No More Heroes released as intended, games like Manhunt 2 released without dictatorial absurdities entwined, and leave knuckleheads like Jack Thompson with no contrived audience to spit his venom at. Because lack of parenting being a threat to freedom is the real issue here, not some fictional black and white character getting hacked up by a chainsaw on a system that you like to play Carnival games and Cricketz on. |

GotGame writes: "Aside from the obvious eye strain and negative vision change that occurs from playing too long, sitting too close to the screen, and not taking breaks, there's at least one other impact video games have on our eyes–and it's actually a good thing. A new study shows that fast-paced, action-packed video games like FPSs stimulate the eyes, and can help develop visual processing." |
